Programs

The Cardinal Nest Inc. works to fulfill our mission through the following key programs:
Each year, The Cardinal Nest invites high school students and community leaders form East Cleveland and surrounding areas to attend our annual Youth Empowerment Weekend. The purpose of the weekend is to provide high school students with the tools necessary to cultivate their inner abilities and skills so that they can become positive change agents in the community. The weekend typically consists of a conference, professional networking mixer, and community day picnic.

Throughout the year, The Cardinal Nest hosts workshops for students featuring guest presenters on various topics pertinent to student success. Some topics include: FAFSA, applying for Scholarships, College Applications 101, Financial Literacy/Credit 101, Post OGT Life, SAT/ACT Test Taking Strategies, Vision/Goal Setting, College Life 101, Building your High School Resume, Community Service, Self-Identity, College Debt, and Time Management.

The Cardinal Nest mentoring program matches 11th & 12th grade students with professional mentors for an academic year. Through these relationships, mentors create an environment for friendship, support, and fun. Mentors and mentees get together at least once per month. Both mentors and mentees make a commitment to spending time together throughout the academic year. Cardinal Nest staff members are also available to answer questions, offer support and help matches work through challenges as they arise.
